Education Policy: China’s Perspective and Global Trend
September 20-22, 2018
Shanghai, China
In the context of the ongoing worldwide multi-polarization, economic globalization, and cultural diversification, education has emerged as a key driver for major countries and regions to realize their national strategies, enhance their global competitiveness, enrich international understanding and develop the community of shared future for mankind. Education policy, as a leverage to pursue educational ideas, plays an increasingly significant role in national education governance systems. It has become a common concern for international organizations, governments and the academia to make efforts to ensure scientific policy-making and effective policy implementation in education sector.
Facing the new challenges and opportunities of globalization, further studies are required to determine the world trends and share different experiences in education policy so as to create a fairer and more integrated quality education system, and to a larger extend, to promote the establishment of a better world.
Owing to sustained progress made in its governance capacity since the reform and opening-up policy carried out four decades ago, China has developed a series of major education policies with unique national features and global significance. On the other hand, Chinese educational researchers and policy-makers also need to be updated with insightful theories and best practices from abroad to inform their education policy development.
National Institutes of Educational Policy Research (NIEPR) at East China Normal University will host an international forum entitled “Education Policy: Chinese Perspectives and Global Trend” on September 20-22, 2018, to provide a platform to exchange and explore the latest development in education policy worldwide. Multiple issues in education policy and practice will be addressed during the forum. The forum aims to share China’s experiences, explore the broad policy themes from international perspectives, and tackle the common prickly policy subjects in joint efforts to map a better future for education.
